The house was built around 1850, seven years before the emancipation of Três Pontas as a city. The construction was influenced by the Portuguese colonial architecture that was widely used at the time.
The first owner of the house was Álvaro de Brito. For several years, the house was used as a residence for judges, a school, but always in the possession of the Brito family, last being the couple José Afonso Resende and Maria de Brito de Rezende.
In 1977, the square in front of the house was renovated, annexed to the house and named Praça Travessia, a tribute to the music that marked the career of Milton Nascimento, who lived his childhood and youth in the house next door and who until today remains intact and with the memories of her life, her parents Seu Zino, Lilia, family and friends.
In 1988, Domingos Monteiro de Resende (son of Maria de Brito and José Afonso) and his wife and cousin Denise Resende, inspired by the houses in Parati-RJ, restored the house, keeping faithful to the original characteristics that can be seen today.
In 2017, Ms. Denise gave her children the space to adapt and carry out a project conceived by her son Diogo. At this time, Pousada Travessia was created, with the objective of transmitting an experience of the Minas Gerais family culture, amid the coffee culture in the city and of course honoring our illustrious neighbor, musician and citizen Milton Nascimento.
In 2018, at the request of guests who did not want to leave the inn and confirming their vocation for an ideal environment for socializing, Empório Travessia was created, a gourmet space returning for celebrations and accomplishments.
The objective of Pousada Travessia is this. Provide people who pass through it moments of joy that can bring good memories over time.
We await you.
